Orlando Police are investigating a case of rape where a woman was raped at New Canada River while she was coming from work in Johannesburg.
Orlando Police spokesperson Constable Monica Hangwane said a complaint reported that she got off a train with a man she knows when two of the three suspect grabbed her.
“It is confirmed that a victim was travelling by train when it stopped due to load shedding, in New Canada. The victim saw other passengers getting off the train when she decided to walk with one of the male passengers she knows. They suddenly heard a gunshot near them and started running. The suspect told the man she was with to keep walking as they were grabbing the victim by arm. She was then taken to New Canada River where she was raped,” said Hangwane.
Hangwane added that the victim was taken to Baragwanath Hospital for tests and counseling. Police are still on the manhunt for the suspects.
