The City of Tshwane has completed the construction of the A RE YENG Bus Rapid Trasport route to Wonderboom along Paul Kruger Avenue, between Myburg street and the intersection where Paul Kruger and Mansfield avenue meet.
The City embarked on the construction of the two mixed traffic lanes in September 2018 in order to accommodate the expansion of the A RE YENG Bus.
The City MMC for Roads and Transport Dikeledi Selowa said the mixed traffic lanes pass under the existing Transnet railway lines in two places.
“This necessitated the construction of two new reinforced concrete bridges adjacent to the existing Railway lines which were completed and officially launched on the 28 October 2021,” said Selowa.
“The city of Tshwane is pleased to announce that today, 3 November 2021, the newly constructed mixed traffic lines will be opened to the public,”
Selowa said the existing lanes will no longer be available for mixed traffic and as such will be closed for final preparations for A RE YENG bus operations. “Commuters are therefore advised that A RE YENG buses will continue in mixed traffic to allow for these final preparations,” added Selowa.
She has further advised the public to exercise caution and patience when approaching the Capital Park bridge to allow for smooth transition to the newly constructed North bound lane.
