After months of extensive humanitarian work to uplift Alex following the June 2021 riots, the Scientology Volunteer Ministers returned to Alex once more on Friday to offer their “Tools for Life training seminar”– a skills development program offered by the Volunteer Ministers Association at no cost to improve the lives of others.
On early Friday morning, community members converged on the Kamvalethu Opportunity Center, determined to improve their lives and get the skills to make a change.
This collaborative effort comes after the Scientology Volunteer Ministers and the Alex Beautification Project joined forces to uplift Alex. These organizations have been working tirelessly months to uplift the community and this is an effort to further lend a helping hand in uplifting Alex.
During the seminar, one of the attendees got up and said “My son has been on drugs since he was ten years old. I need something to get him off them. I need this Answers to Drugs course.”
This was a first of many seminars scheduled to take place this year to train up much of the community as possible.
Dylan Cefail of the Scientology Volunteer Ministers said “It is always a great experience to see the community come out in numbers to participate in group activities such as this training. This training offers skills such as communication, how to study better, and conflict resolution and just about anything else you might think of. This is our way of empowering others”. He adds that the program, written by L. Ron Hubbard, was written decades ago to do exactly that – provide people with practical tools they can use to better their lives.
After the seminar, one of the attendees who had done a study course told the team, “I understand the Study Technology. You have to know what you are studying and understand the meaning of education. You can gain knowledge, skills and ideas. You can only understand difficult words by using the dictionary, and learn their meaning so that you can be able to use them in life. This has been very powerful.”
Dylan concluded that this program will continue to run for as long as needed.
