Anti-crime activist and traditional healer Thato Molosankwe was gunned down at his home in Lomanyaneng village near Mahikeng in the early hours of Wednesday, May 20.
Sparking a manhunt by North West police.Molosankwe was shot multiple times by an unknown assailant who fled immediately after the attack. Police said he sustained about five gunshot wounds and died at the scene. Acting National Police Commissioner Lt. Gen. Puleng Dimpane has ordered maximum resources deployed to track down the killers. No arrests have been made and the motive remains under investigation.Molosankwe was a prominent voice against crime and corruption in Mahikeng.
Colleagues said he worked closely with law enforcement to expose criminal activity and named individuals he accused of looting the community.He was also outspoken on local economic issues, criticizing the dominance of illegal foreign-owned businesses in and around Mahikeng. In recent weeks he had intervened in disputes over land and property rights in the area.Close associates told police Molosankwe had received anonymous threats in the weeks before his death, though he had not filed a formal complaint with SAPS.
Police have appealed to the public for any information that could help identify the shooter and establish a motive. The investigation is ongoing
