Tlhokomelo Remedic School commonly known as Tlhokomelo Primary School launched its first ever response computer laboratory on March 1.

The department of social development alongside Samsung Africa, has donated a computer lab to the school for children with special needs. The school caters for children with print disabilities such as Attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD), Dyslexia.

Deputy minister of social development Hendrietta Bogopane – Zulu said, “we are ensuring that children with disabilities are included in the digital age and digital revolution so that they are not left behind.”

The software that is installed is a response software which enables them to get independence, understand and to know what kind of support do they need.

Due to the different characters, the laboratory is designed into different sections catering for all the children with different concentration span.

Samsung Africa CEO Sung Yoon, exclaimed how they are happy to be part of the initiative. “We have partnered with the department to bring change in the communities and to expose children with disabilities to technology,” he said.

George Maluleka, school principal of Tlhokomelo Remedic School was overwhelmed by the launch of the lab. “I’m very happy that my learners will be able to engage with technology and learn independence on their own.

“Now as educators, we will be able to identify their weak points and help them,” he added.
