Durban — The theme for the 2026 Hollywoodbets Durban July has been announced as “Country Allure,” setting the tone for Africa’s biggest horse racing and fashion spectacle scheduled for 4 July 2026.
The theme was unveiled at Hollywoodbets Greyville in Durban, inviting designers, fashion lovers and racegoers to draw inspiration from South Africa’s countryside landscapes and the elegance of equestrian culture.
Organisers say the theme celebrates the heritage of horse racing and the natural beauty of the rural environments where thoroughbreds are bred and trained.
The Durban July is regarded as one of the country’s biggest sporting and lifestyle events, attracting thousands of visitors every year for a mix of horse racing, fashion and entertainment.
Last year’s race drew more than 40,000 spectators and delivered a dramatic finish as The Real Prince, ridden by Craig Zackey, edged past favourite Eight On Eighteen by a neck.
Beyond the track, the event also provides a major economic boost, contributing hundreds of millions of rand to the local economy and creating thousands of temporary jobs in hospitality, tourism and event services.
Organisers expect another strong turnout in 2026 as racegoers from across South Africa and abroad prepare to gather in Durban for one of the country’s most anticipated events on the sporting and social calendar.
