Another way of giving back to the community is taking care of the community. Yesterday the Executive Mayor of the City of Tshwane, Randall Williams led a donation drive to help unprivileged pupils.
He was joined by the MMC of Community and Social Development, Councillor Thabisile Vilakazi and Mr Jakes Xulu, the CEO of MaxProf. This is the very same company that has partnered with the city to donate school uniforms for those in need.
Randall Williams said, “As a municipality our job is to provide basic services such as grass cutting, repairing potholes and streetlights however we felt that we also have a duty to assist the needy and underprivileged in our communities.”
Councillor Williams and his partners donated school uniforms with toiletry bags containing different hygieneessential products at Mlokotwa-Dube Primary School, in Winterveldt.
It did not end there, part two of the drive was at Phelang LSEN school, in Hammaskraal. This is a school that caters for children with intellectual disabilities.
Williams said that it is important to join hands and assist where they can. They were able to donate full school uniforms to 114 learners, 400 hygiene packs to both girls and boys in these schools, 40 blankets, a wheelchair and sporting equipment.
“Tshwane remains committed to building sustainable partnerships with businesses and various stakeholders to assist and empower communities,” he concluded.
