Lesufi opens Kwa-Thema Special School

Gauteng Department of Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi officially opened Kwa-Thema Skills School of Specialisation.

 

Lesufi said the school will offer Technical Occupational Curriculum.

 

“Practical and theoretical learning will be offered. This will create opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship. The school which is LSEN caters for learners with disabilities and mild intellectual”, he said.

 

Lesufi added that learners struggle with academic demand of ordinary schools but they manage where curriculum offers both theory and practical.

 

“Kwa-Thema Skills School of Specialisation offers qualifications on Level 1 of the National Qualifications Framework. Qualified learners will be employable and equipped with entrepreneurial skills”, he added.

 

Lesufi thanked the partnership the school has with a number of stakeholders.

“There are opportunities for learnership programmes which will empower learners for future success. The school seeks to nurture and bring out top talent in South Africa. This can be done through discipline and breeding future leaders of the country. A graduate from Specialisation School have an opportunity to join labour market, be an entrepreneur or further the studies”, said Lesufi.

 

He added that the school will fill the gap of skills shortage by creating skilled labour for economy. This will assist in transformation, modernisation and re- industrialisation strategy of Gauteng region
