Nanga Vhutshilo honoured for community based organisation

The U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for Aids Relief(PEPFAR) has donated $42,218 approximately R600 000 to Nanga Vhutshilo, a community based organisation from Soweto, to assist with the HIV/AIDS community grants and emergency plan for AIDS Relief.

Nanga Vhutshilo is one of the 40 community organisations that were competing nationally. The organisation stood out from other community based organisations but it was a highly competitive grant process which resulted to Nanga Vhutshilo receiving the prize.

U.S. PEPFAR has partnered with the South African government since 2004 to assist in ensuring prevention and treatment for the HIV epidemic, PEPFAR has also invested over $6 billion for HIV programs in South Africa.

,More community based organisations are encouraged to educate and inform community members about the stigma of HIV/AIDS and promote the use of condoms to prevent HIV infection.
