Suspect arrested after armed robbery at centurion storage facility

A suspect has been arrested and two getaway vehicles recovered following a swift response by the Tshwane Metro Police Department after an armed robbery in Centurion.

The incident occurred on Monday, 20 April 2026, at the Zwartkop Self-Storage facility, where a group of about 15 armed suspects reportedly arrived in three vehicles. According to authorities, the suspects held security guards at gunpoint inside the guard room before robbing a client of personal belongings, including a firearm and a cellphone.Following the robbery, TMPD’s Tactical Unit launched a rapid tracking operation. Using information gathered at the scene, officers traced leads to a residence in Nellmapius.

Upon arrival, officers identified vehicles matching the descriptions of those used in the robbery. A search of the property led to the discovery of a suspect hiding inside one of the vehicles. Police recovered stolen items, including a cellphone and ammunition. The suspect is currently in custody at a local police station and is expected to appear in court soon.

YCR Faro commended officers for their quick and coordinated response, reaffirming the department’s commitment to public safety.

Investigations are ongoing as authorities continue to search for the remaining suspects involved in the robbery.
