Man kills and buries girlfriend under his bed

Thokozani Samuel Sibeko (41) appeared at the Protea Magistrate Court on Wednesday for allegedly killing his girlfriend, Mathapelo Mbele, and burying her under his bed in Vlakfontein, Johannesburg.

The body of the woman was discovered on August 4th after Thokozani had confessed to killing her.

A DNA test was conducted to confirm the identity of Mbele, but police spokesperson Captain Mavela Masondo could not confirm whether the results had been released to the family.

Thokozani is expected back in court in October after he abandoned his bail application.

The family confirmed Mathapelo will be buried on Friday and they seek justice for their brutally murdered child at the hands of her boyfriend. South Africa has been facing gender-based violence in high numbers which has prompted GBV and civil organisations to organise marches to raise awareness and eliminate the scourge of women and child abuse.
