The name Ami Faku might not ring much of a bell, at this point in time, but it definitely will soon. The newcomer, from the Eastern Cape, came into the public eye when she auditioned for The Voice South Africa and grabbed songstress Lira’s attention.
Although she didn’t win the competition she caught the ear of the show’s music director who then linked her up with Raphael Benza. Benza runs Vth Season which is a record label that has brought hip hop star AKA into prominence.
The rest as they say is history as Ami Faku has now released her debut album titled Imali and fans are appreciating her effort.
This is definitely a week of new releases in South African music and the bar has been set high for more artists who are yet to release.
