A 23-year-old female was allegedly raped by a male companion who had offered her a place to stay after she got evicted from her flat. The incident occurred at the suspect’s apartment at Charlie Stone Flats on corner Delvers and Commissioner Streets.
“The victim was kicked out of her flat by the landlord earlier on in the day and found assistance from a male friend of hers who offered her shelter. As she was sleeping the suspect then woke her up at 01:30 and demanded sex from her”, says Captain Xoli Mbele.
The suspect then commanded her to take off her clothes but she refused and was met with a flurry of violent threats. He then took her cellphone and proceeded to undress her before forcing himself on her.
The police were alerted about the rape by the victim, who went to the police station the next morning, after managing to sneak out of the apartment. She led officers to where the suspect was and his arrest was imminent.
