Body of a man found at railway line in Lenasia

Police officers have recovered a body of an unknown man yesterday, at a railway line near South African National Defence Force (SANDF) military base in Lenasia, Soweto.

Lenasia police station spokesperson Bafana Ndimande said the deceased was lying on top of electricity wires. He said motive behind his murder is still unknown.

“Paramedics were immediately called at the scene and they declared him dead. The deceased is unidentified but seems to be in his mid-thirties. He was taken to Diepkloof Government Mortuary by pathologists. We are calling upon anyone with information that can lead to the family of deceased to come forward”, he said.  

Ndimande confirmed that they have opened a case of murder and investigations will be conducted in order to know what caused his murder.

On a different case, according to Yusuf Bramjee’s tweet post a 69 years old man was brutally murdered during house robbery on Monday at Poppy Street, in Lenasia South.

“Three male suspects entered into a house of an elderly couple, tied their arms and legs then put them in separate rooms. Suspects looted the house, took mobile phones, electronic equipment and fled the scene. A female victim managed to untie herself and alerted security company. Upon arrival of security officers, he found a body of an old man in the bedroom. Paramedics confirmed him dead as he was hit with a blunt object and sustained fatal injuries”, a post read.

Lenasia SAPS have opened a case of robbery and murder.  They are conducting investigations and urging resident with leads to call crime stop number on 086 001 0111.
