22 year-old man arrested for allegedly killing a Soweto teacher

A 22-year-old man is under police guard in a hospital in Greytown, Kwa-Zulu Natal as he is suspected to be responsible for the killing of his 36-year-old girlfriend in Soweto. 

The body of the victim was discovered in a flat at Jabulani in Soweto on Thursday 02 September 2021.

“Police received information about a woman who might have been killed and locked inside a flat in Jabulani,”Police spokesperson Mavela Masondo.

Masondo said the  police went to the flat and broke the door open where the body of a woman, with a stab wound on the upper body, was discovered. 

He said investigations led the police to Kwa-Zulu Natal where the suspect was found in hospital with suspicions that he poisoned himself. “The suspect was placed under police guard and will be charged with murder as soon as he recovers.”

Meanwhile the Gauteng MEC for Education, Panyaza Lesufi  saidthey have send their psycho social unit to the school for necessary support to all affected.

“It is really disheartening to learn about the brutal and untimely death of Ms Lerato Mosia. She played a vital role as an educator at Mara Primary School and in her community,” said Lesufi.
