Johannesburg – Johannesburg Water has assured residents that contingency plans are in place ahead of Rand Water’s planned bulk water maintenance scheduled for December 2025 and early January 2026.
The maintenance will take place in three phases — 13–15 December, 19–21 December, and 6–8 January — and may result in low water pressure or temporary supply interruptions in parts of Midrand, Sandton, Soweto, Lenasia, Orange Farm, South Hills, and the Johannesburg Central Region.
Speaking at a media briefing, Johannesburg Water Board Chairperson Dineo Majavu said the work is necessary to improve the long-term reliability of the regional water system while minimising disruption to residents.
A key highlight of the briefing was the launch of Johannesburg Water’s new water tanker fleet, aimed at improving emergency response times and ensuring water supply to critical facilities such as hospitals and clinics.
Johannesburg Water has urged residents to stay informed through official communication channels and to use water responsibly during the maintenance period.
