“Channeling of rain water into the sewage system is not only illegal, but can cause constant sewage blockages.”
MMC Nkosindiphile Xhakaza said this during the Siyaqhuba Service Delivery programme in Thembisa on Monday, 13 September 2021.
He said that some resident after building boundary walls on their properties fail to have a funnel to allow the water to pass through.
“Some do this to keep the peace with their neighbours by not allowing rain water to pass from their property to that of their neighbours.
Xhakaza said neighbours should cooperate on the issue of water flowing from one property to another.
“We, however, request that neighbours should cooperate on the issue of water flowing from one property to the next to minimise blockages from developing,” he said.
Xhakaza has urged residents to work together as neighbours to minimise sewage blockages in their neighbourhood.
