Alexandra police officer found dead while on duty

A police officer was found dead in his car on Saturday night at Alexandra Police Station.

The cause of his death is not yet established. Alexandra Police Spokesperson Sergeant Simphiwe Mbatha confirmed to ALEX FM News that the deceased was linked to the murder case of Samantha Hadebe, and he was supposed to appear in court on Wednesday.

Mbatha says according to emergency reports, the deceased did not sustain any injuries, but only post-mortem results will determine the cause of his death.

He said the deceased police officer will be remembered at the memorial service to be held in Alexandra at San Kopano Resources Centre on Thursday.

The officer will be laid rest on weekend in Limpopo Province.

Samantha Mahtani-Radebe was struck by a bullet when she was caught in a crossfire between police and alleged hijackers in Alex mall when she was returning from work.
