Fire damages classrooms at a Boksburg primary

A fire has damaged eight classrooms and a store room at Drommedaris Primary School in Reiger Park, Boksburg on Sunday afternoon.

Gauteng Education spokesperson Steve Mabona says the school’s general assistant reported the fire to authorities.

“Unfortunately, eight Foundation Phase classrooms and the school’s storeroom were damaged as a result of the fire.”

Mabona says police are investigating the cause of the fire.

“The GDE is working tirelessly to ensure that learning at the school, as well as the health and safety of learners, is not compromised due to this incident.”
