Glen Ridge Primary against gender based violence

Glen Ridge Primary learners and community members are up in arms concerning gender based violence (GBV)in Protea Glen extension 16, Soweto.

The learners together with community members embarked on a five kilometre fun walk and young people had banners that read: “Enough is Enough”. Parents and teachers were encouraged as well to participate in the initiative.

The initiative was supported by local community members, and stakeholders such as Old Mutual, Herbal Life and the Teddy Bear Clinic. Children were encouraged to speak up should they encounter abuse and violence.

This follows the scourge of gender based violence in South Africa, as women and children are killed in numbers and this raised a national concern withorganisations and communities protesting against the violence and killings of women and children.
