A 14 -year-old boy learner from Freedom Park Secondary School has been stabbed to death. It is alleged that the boy was stabbed by another learner, on Thursday 20 February, after school near their homes. Both learners are in Grade 10.

The suspect is on the run. Police are investigating circumstances surrounding the matter and the community is urged to assist the Freedom Park police regarding whereabouts of the suspect and report any information to the police.

“We take this time to send our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and the school community, during this time of grief. No words are enough to express our sorrow at a loss of a child. We hope that the family will find comfort in the knowledge that we too share their loss. We strongly condemn any acts of learner misconduct and relentlessly appeal to parents to assist with enforcing discipline in and outside the school environment,” said Education MEC, Panyaza Lesufi.
