Mobile municipal truck to spare Tshwane residents long trips to service centres

Thousands of Tshwane residents living in remote and underserved communities will no longer have to travel long distances or spend money on transport to access municipal services after the City of Tshwane launched a Customer Care Mobile Truck yesterday. The mobile unit, described by the City as a “rolling municipal office”, will travel to communities across Tshwane, allowing residents to resolve billing queries, update account information and report service delivery problems closer to home.

Tshwane Mayor Dr Nasiphi Moya said the initiative aims to make municipal services more accessible, particularly for residents who have struggled to reach regional customer care centres.”The initiative aims to provide immediate financial and logistical relief to families who previously had to sacrifice both time and public transport money to engage with City officials,” Moya said.

She said the mobile truck was introduced in response to the challenges faced by residents in far-flung communities, who often spend hours travelling or waiting to receive assistance.Instead of making long trips or relying on call centres, residents will be able to meet municipal officials in their own neighbourhoods.”The mobile truck is equipped to travel throughout the various regions of Tshwane, offering localised assistance with municipal accounts, statement discrepancies and immediate account updates,” Moya said.

Residents will also be able to report service delivery issues, including water leaks, potholes and electricity faults, directly to municipal officials.Moya said improving access to municipal services is part of the City’s broader plan to strengthen frontline service delivery and improve the customer experience.”The launch of the Customer Care Mobile Truck forms part of our broader programme to improve customer experience, strengthen frontline service delivery and ensure that every resident, regardless of where they live, has convenient access to municipal services,” she said.

She added that the initiative reflects the City’s commitment to building a municipality that responds to residents’ needs.”Through initiatives such as this, we continue to build a City that listens, responds and delivers, reaffirming our commitment to putting residents first and ensuring that no community is left behind,” Moya said.
