Observed globally on May 12, International Nurses Day honours the legacy of Florence Nightingale and recognizes the vital role nurses play in healthcare. Many spoke openly about the kindness and support they’ve received at the facility, describing nurses and support staff as approachable, caring and committed.“The community showed up for us, and that means everything,” one staff member said. “It reminds us that the work we do matters, even on the difficult days.”

Attendees described the pledge as powerful and inspiring, a public reaffirmation of the values that guide the team daily.Facility manager Sister Williams praised the relationship the centre has built with its patients over the years. “Speaking to Sister Williams, she highlighted that Nokuthela Ngwenya Community Health Centre caters to its community and has established a great relationship with its patients,” attendees said. She pointed to the friendly staff and the trust between staff and patients as key to the centre’s success in patient care.
Every role matters the celebration made a point of recognizing every staff member. Nurses across departments were honoured alongside administrators, cooks, cleaners and support staff whose work keeps the facility running smoothly.
