Orlando High School launches Digits ABC Motsepe Library

Orlando High School will be renaming the Orlando High library to Digits ABC Motsepe Library and commemorate the unveiling of former principal of the school, Dr. Thamsanqa Khambule Garden.

In collaboration with the Motsepe Foundation, the launch is convened for September 24 at Orlando East Soweto.

Dr Khambule, who served Orlando High for the past 20 years, will be celebrated by teachers and learners of the school. The celebration will also have the top 100 alumina of learners who used to attend at Orlando High.

The Motsepe Foundation will donate books to the school pupils.

The Johannesburg Heritage Foundation and Witwatersrand University will also support the launch.

Gauteng News spoke to Vuka Tshabalala, founder and CEO of James Bandis.

“Through the launch we also aim to raise funds for the sports facilities in Orlando High and the community at large is invited to participate in the evet. We also organised a walk on August 15, for the activation of the launch. The public is invited to donate towards the project and there is a bank account created for the public to donate money for this exciting celebration”.

Principal of Orlando High Choza Mrweteyene said, “We are excited to be renaming our Library and honoring the former learners. This will be beneficial for our school, learners and teachers as a whole. We invite the public to take part of the celebration and we are thankful to the stakeholders who are contributing towards this”.
