Three men get 13 years imprisonment for robberies

The Alexandra Magistrate court has recently sentenced three men from Ivory Park in Johannesburg 13 years imprisonment, for multiple robberies that took place in Midrand.

Ivory Park SAPS station commander Brigadier David Ngcobo said Brian Moyana (27), Costa Moyana (23) and Junior Munyaradzi (26) used to rob innocent people their belongings at Glen Austin area in Midrand.

“The robberies were committed two years ago, whereby the suspects would strip the victims naked, threaten to kill them and take their belongings. Ivory Park police arrested them in March, shortly after committing another crime. They have been in jail since their arrest. Police found five cellphones, which one of the victims identified them as his during the investigations”, he added.

Ngcobo said the trio got 13 years sentences each but two of them, Junior Munyaradzi and Costa Moyana got an addition of seven years in prison for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

“I am happy with the sentences they have received because they send a message out there to other criminals. It is also a way of restoring justice to the victims of these three suspects”, said Ngcobo.

He said their cases were investigated by detective Sergeant Andile Mbovane from Ekurhuleni District Trio Task Team. Ngcobo congratulated the sergeant with his good work as he made sure that justice is served and the suspects got the punishment they deserve.
