The Great Yellow Brick Co opened South Africa’s second and internationally acclaimed LEGO Certified Store, in Menlyn Park Shopping Centre in Tshwane Pretoria.
Co-founder of Great Yellow Brick Company and South African license-holders of LEGO Certified Store concept, Robert Greenstein, said this is the new store expanding its exclusive deal with LEGO South Africa.
“The store is 170m2 and the second LEGO Certified opened in South Africa. It includes all unique signature features to LEGO Certified Stores. It involves Pick a Brick Wall, Build a Minifigure station and a custom-designed mosaic of a Jacaranda tree that celebrates the host city, which is Pretoria. This store will be the only one in South Africa featuring a Digital Minifigure Scanner. It is for shoppers to scan their hand to generate a digital 3D LEGO Minifigure for themselves”, he said.
Greenstein said the store is a home to 80 exciting new sets and products which were launched for the first time in South Africa. He added that they include LEGO Stranger Tings and The Upside Down.
“The iconic set features six rooms in the Byer’s house, which is from an alternate dimension and includes eight instantly recognisable mini figures of series characters. The exclusive products are in addition to the vast range of LEGO sets celebrating movie franchises like, Star Wars, The Avengers and favorites like LEGO, DUPLO, LEGO Friends, collectibles and special editions as well as other fantastic sets and themes”, said Greenstein.
He added that Menlyn Park Shopping Centre is a world-class mall that is a home to numerous international brands and flagship stores. Greenstein said that it was simple and of a good sense to open their second LEGO Certified Store in an iconic super-regional mall.
Country Manager for The LEGO Group in South Africa Kristian Imhof said the first launch of LEGO Certified in Sandton City in 2018 has been a remarkable success. Imhof said they are happy that this dedicated store in Menlyn Park Shopping Centre will give Tshwane residents easy access to the joy of building their own LEGO world.
