A 43year old man is expected to appear in the Westonaria Magistrates Court on allegations of murder, attempted murder, and cash-in-transit robbery related charges on Monday, 23 November.
An intelligence driven operation by the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation in Johannesburg together with the Gauteng Taxi Intervention Unit resulted to the apprehension of the suspect who was positively linked to a cash-in-transit robbery that happened a week ago in Protea Glen, Soweto.
It is alleged that a group of unknown men allegedly set alight the fidelity cash van during an armed robbery in Protea Glen where they shot and fatally wounded three people, including a woman and fidelity personnel, leaving two traffic officers injured.
The investigation team seized a Toyota Etios which was positively linked to a hijacking incident in Linden earlier this month.
Investigation continues and outstanding suspects are sought.
