Ekurhuleni Law Enforcement on High Alert for Easter Weekend
The City of Ekurhuleni’s Disaster and Emergency Management Services has announced that law enforcement authorities will be deployed to major routes throughout the Easter period. This initiative forms part of the Gauteng government’s efforts to reduce road accidents and fatalities, particularly in high-traffic areas.
According to officials, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) and Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) teams will be out in force, providing support and enforcing traffic laws. Motorists are urged to exercise caution and adhere to traffic rules to ensure a safe journey.
“We want to remind drivers that safety is a shared responsibility,” said a spokesperson. “We’ll be monitoring roads and taking action against those who flaunt traffic laws.”
In preparation for the holiday, the City of Ekurhuleni has put in place contingency plans to deal with potential disruptions. Residents and visitors are advised to plan ahead, stay informed, and report any incidents or concerns to the relevant authorities
