Leeuwkop prison in Johannesburg held a Fear Free Life Women’s Seminar to create a dialogue between perpetrators who committed gender-based violence and psychosocial professionals.
The main objective of the seminar was to create a dialogue, which aimed to inform and educate participants about matters that affected women.
Women and children abuse in South Africa is a tremendous predicament and through the seminar, participants were able to receive rehabilitation and information about women abuse. Social workers and psychologists were invited to help rehabilitate the participants and assisting with the healing process, different organizations also were invited to help contribute in encouraging no violence against women and children abuse.
One of the key speakers was Sindiswa Maseko who encouraged participants to respect and love their women and children.
Gauteng News spoke to Pinky Khubeka who also attended the seminar.
“This is a great initiative to be part of and the need to educate our men about how women should be treated. I think as women we will also learn a lot about how men feel about women and children abuse, and through the seminar we are able to provide solutions.”
