Ndimande Brothers made their first court appearance after being extradited to face murder charges in the killing of rapper AKA and his friend Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane.
The trial of Siyabonga and Malusi Ndimande, accused of involvement in the murders of rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and his friend Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane, has taken a new turn. The brothers have withdrawn their bail application in the Durban Magistrate’s Court, despite previously indicating they would pursue bail.
The Ndimande brothers were extradited from Eswatini in November 2025, after abandoning their appeal against the extradition order. They face multiple charges, including murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
The prosecution, led by Advocate Lawrence Gcaba, has indicated it will strongly oppose bail, citing concerns the brothers are a flight risk. The brothers are also linked to other crimes, including the 2022 murder of an Amanzimtoti taxi boss and attempted murder of his wife.
The trial is set to run from July 20 to August 21, with another session starting on October 6, 2026. The case has sparked widespread outrage and concern, with Forbes’ mother, Lynn Forbes, attending court proceedings to show support for the prosecution.
