Police arrest two men in possession of drugs

Orlando South African Police Services (SAPS) crime prevention unit has arrested two males while doing Covid-19 operation yesterday, at Dakota street in Orlando East Soweto.

Orlando East police station spokesperson Constable Monica Hangwane said police noticed two males aged 39 and 47 exchanging something.

“They asked for permission to search the suspects, on their search police found 31 zip blog plastic containing substances. They are suspected to be drugs, seven and half tablets which were also found from them are suspected to be drugs. The suspects are expected to appear at Orlando Magistrate Court soon charged with possession of substances suspected to be drugs”, she said. 

In a different case, police also recently arrested two males aged 31 and 55 on different occasions at Ballenden street in Noordgesig Soweto.

“Police were doing their daily patrol when they encounter two males. They looked suspicious and police asked permission to search them. While searching, they found small brown plastic with substance also suspected to be drugs. Police arrested and charged them with offences of drugs trafficking act. They will appear at Orlando Magistrate Court soon”, said Hangwane.
