SADTU head to court to stop matric exams re-write

Basic Education Minister, Angie Motshekga has announced that the leaked Maths and Physics papers will be rewritten in the next two weeks. Teachers union, SADTU is vowing to stop the court to stop this from happening.

The department says the Minister’s decision to allow learners to rewrite Mathematics Paper 2 and Physical Science Paper 2 will promote fairness to the National Senior Certificate assessments, particularly for those learners who took the time and the trouble to prepare for the examinations during some of the most difficult times in the history of the terrain of education in South Africa. The decision will certainly go a long way to restore confidence in the quality of assessments

However, SADTU says they are heading to court to challenge Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga’s decision to get matric learners to rewrite the exam papers that were leaked.

“We will be applying for an urgent court interdict on the decision of the department to make all the learners rewrite these two papers. We feel that this decision is unfair and premature.”
