Suliman Carrim, a prominent North West businessman and ANC member, has been admitted to Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg, sparking speculation about his health and potential connection to recent controversies. A fleet of cars belonging to his security company, Fusion Tactical, was seen entering the hospital, indicating a high level of security presence.
Carrim’s company provides security services to high-profile individuals and has luxury vehicles and trained close protection officers armed with pistols and rifles.The hospital admission comes amid ongoing investigations and controversies surrounding Carrim’s business dealings, particularly his links to Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala, an attempted murder accused, and tender tycoon Morgan Maumela. Carrim allegedly received R1.5m from Matlala’s company, Medicare24, after it was paid R2.5m by the South African Police Service (SAPS) for a R360m contract. He has testified that he invested R10m in Medicare24 but incurred significant losses. Police Minister Senzo Mchunu has confirmed receiving a message from Carrim asking him to stall investigations into irregularities in the SAPS tender won by Matlala’s company. Carrim’s lawyer claims the summons did not require him to disclose business dealings, while evidence leaders suggest he may have assisted Matlala with tender invoices and shared confidential information.
