Orlando Pirates coach Abdelsalam Ouaddou remains resolute that his team will fight until the end for the Betway Premiership title, despite dropping crucial points in recent matches. The Buccaneers currently trail leaders Mamelodi Sundowns by two points, having played a game less ¹.
“We know that the PSL is a very strong league, very good teams, if you want to be champions you have to definitely go and win that game,” Ouaddou said, emphasizing the intensity of the title race. “Everyone is dreaming to be champions, and we are fighting with one team to be champions. It is a passion in the PSL and we are going to fight until the last minute”. Ouaddou’s determination stems from his team’s fighting spirit, as evident in their recent 2-2 draw against Richards Bay. “The guys fight till the end. Let’s work until the end like I said. Lot of people can think it’s over but we don’t think like that. We have to play our game until the end,” he said ¹.
The Pirates coach believes the current title race is beneficial for the South African league. “I think it’s very good for the South African league – for me, I always say that it’s the best in Africa. So, the fans deserve to have this race until the end, to have interest because if there is no interest in football, people lose it and they are not interested anymore,” Ouaddou stated, with nine games remaining, Ouaddou is focused on taking it one match at a time. “I will not tell you that we have a target of points for each month, no! The mentality is for every game we start with the target and aim to win,” he said.
